Architectural Retreat

This collaboration with the Architect home owner resulted in a sophisticated and engaging garden to complement the refined design of the home.

In the front garden, the wide stairs made of beautiful black basalt welcomes guests to the home. Expertly-constructed stone walls hold the small front garden which is graced by a Cornus kousa and red leafed Maple. The paver walk leads to the new driveway and an elegant wooden gate leading to the back garden oasis.

Arriving in the back garden, one is first met with the lovely bubbling sounds of a custom black basalt water feature, popular with birds as well as humans! A thoughtful interplay of Corten steel walls, Black Basalt pavers and gravel walks is used to construct various seating opportunities to enjoy the garden. A fine-tuned palette of blue and chartreuse plantings helps to soften the built structures.
